why

why can't i be you? or at least like, best friends or something. this is EXACTLY what i am aspiring my art to be, but i have so long to go... i really feel your artwork, you are my new inspiration. I'm going to spend hours studying your style so i can incorporate some of it's aspects into my own. really beautiful, you go all the way. you don't hold back, i like that.

you know what,

People have gotten so good with photoshop thati can't tell the difference between scanned pictures and pictures created on the computer. This LOOKS like it was scanned, but i don't know, you gotta tell me.

in any case, this does not do the real life art justice, the detail is just AMAZING. i have a 22 inch monitor and i'm getting really close to it in order to see the detail of this. BRAVO.. honestly, if this was made with actual charcoal i would pay for your pieces, that is if i had a source of income.

it was drawn in mechanical pencil/ graphite--scanned into the computer, and I knocked up the contrast a bit because graphite doesn't show up very dark on the scanner. But yes, I work with charcoal, graphite, acrylic paint, oil paint (rarely), colored pencil, pastel, and sometimes digital...it's all good fun, but I still like drawing w/ pencil/paper the most after all this time.

yes, yes, and yes. i, LOVE it. creepy, detailed, wow. awesome. what you did with the eyes is AMAZING. YOU DID IT, THOSE WRINKLES ARE JUST...YES.

ok ok i'll critique, i just, love it too much.

i'd say the detail is inconsistent, and i think you could have gone darker, upped the contrast a bit. the shading doesn't go dark enough, and it makes the drawing kinda look flat. the highlights are GREAT though, shiny, and the eyebrow is subtle, but perfect because of it.
Also, i would suggest getting rid of his outline. it's clear that you sketched it first, but if you get rid of that dark outline, i think he won't be so separated from the background. excellent choice of colors by the way.

overall, GREAT, I LOVE IT. i'm into contour drawing and it is very clear that you are excellent at that. good experiment :D

OH MY GOD TEACH ME

this is VERY good! the expression is just perfect... coy, relaxed, i dunno how to define it but WELL DONE!! and the HAIR is just gorgeous, very realistic, and your brush strokes(or pencil strokes i dunno) really add to the texture. one thing i would like to add though is that the hair around the shoulders is a little odd, unless it's the exact same color and darkness as the sweater i think it could have more contrast, lighten up the shirt or darken the hair at parts. other than that, very well done! the mouth may look offcenter, but that's just the face she's making. beautiful flower too!

Thanks! This was a portrait for a friends mother copied from a photograph (with a very bright flash!), so the shadings a little off, but thanks for the awesome review :D
